100% Indoor Dining

After 14 months, normal has never been closer.

It has felt like a literal eternity, but, on May 19th, indoor dining returns to 100% capacity, minus the 6 ft for social distancing. This is a very exciting step towards reclaiming a life after a pandemic. It is just a matter of time before terms like "flatten the curve," "shelter in place," and "quarantine" are distant thoughts in our collective memories, hopefully, to be buried and never revisit.

Wild and Farmed Salmon

  • Currently, Verlasso is moving to a different farming sight which is going to greatly limit the supply for the next few weeks.
  • Kvaroy Salmon had to temporarily shut down one of their processing plants which means that we will not have available going into this weekend.
  • Wild Kings are starting to trickle in, however, they are still prohibitively expensive. We will continue to monitor this situation.

Live Lobster

  • In what can only be described as a post Mother's Day miracle, the price of lobsters has begun to fall after weeks of consistent climbing. Expect to see some relief in our next price update

Lobster Meat

  • If you have just read the above information about live lobsters, you might be asking yourself what that means for the currently absent lobster meat. Well, hopefully with the price declining, packers will be enticed to start processing lobster meat, and we can all go back to enjoying the fruits of their labor. When will that be? Hopefully by mid-June, but rest assured that we will keep you updated.

Crab

The pasteurized crabmeat market has been very tight, last night we received a new shipment but still not the full quantity we needed. The supply chain has suffered due to Covid – we are now seeing the increased global effect that it is having on transportation, labor, and supply levels.

Specialty Items

  • Sea Urchin throughout Maine and Canada have begun to spawn. More than 50% of the urchin caught is spawning and therefore unusable. Processors are looking to bring in product from Peru and Chile but they are not sure when that will start.
