More on that Lobster Meat

Will Shrimp Rolls be this summer's biggest trend?

Last week we explained that there was an impending shortage of the lobster meat products that many of you have come to rely on for everything from Lobster Rolls to Lobster Ravioli. Now we are letting you know that that shortage is here. We have no lobster meat for your lobster rolls. To go full Seuss, we have no lobster meat for your lobster salad, no lobster meat for your lobster taco and no lobster meat for your lobster pasta, we have no lobster meat. It is time to start thinking outside of the box about what to put in between the bun. Here are just a few suggestions- Shrimp, which we have in a variety of specs which we will happily tell you all about in lots of glorious details. Or maybe try oysters-we sell pre-shucked oysters by the gallon. Finally go with a totally different roll concept, like a Nigerian Fish Roll or a Vietnamese Spring Roll.

Not Available

  • Farmed Striped Bass
  • Grouper
  • Mahi

Tuna

  • Tuna has been nonexistent this past week. Supply has completely dried up and finding any quantity is difficult especially good quality. Hopefully we will start seeing more product next week.

Live Lobster

  • Live Lobster prices are up, supply remains tight on all sizes especially 1.5's. A couple of areas in Canada open next week which help the supply and hopefully the price.

Cod and Ground Fish

  • Halibut supply has loosened up this week. We are seeing far more offerings
  • New York legal Wild Striped Bass has been not terribly consistent this week. Most current quotas have been met. New areas are expected to open in early May.

Crab

  • Another casualty of the Pandemic is the Pasteurized Crabmeat. The market remains very tight with prices continuing to rise. Covid has disrupted transportation, labor and supply levels.
