An Updated App for the Ages

It is hard to remember what the world was like before apps ruled our lives. In fact, apps so rule our lives that the only reason you know that this Market Report exists is because we told you on Instagram. As the world has evolved from analog to digital, The Lobster Place has worked to change with the times. In the past we would have told you it was fine to fax an order, hell, we probably would have accepted smoke signals but now that we are living in an app world, we created an app tailor made to suit our customers needs. Think of it as your one stop shop for all your Lobster Place needs, including looking up prices, seeing your invoices and checking that status of an order.

Wild and Farmed Salmon

  • There has been a slight increase in pricing on Canadian Salmon this week. There still seems to be enough salmon around to meet overall demand.
  • Imported Salmon prices are also on the rise
  • European Steelhead Trout supply is very low, the farms are focusing more on salmon.

Tuna

  • Prices on fresh Tuna have shot up this week. Product availability has really dried up and prices reflect this trend. Overall global supply was down while demand has gone up. This weekend we will have Tuna sourced from Suriname, Trinidad and Hawaii

Live Lobster

  • Lobster prices continue to rise. There has been very limited supply, with very few boats going out fishing. The effects are especially felt in the larger sizes, like 2lbers.

Cod and Ground Fish

  • Skrei Cod season has started. We are expecting our first shipment next Tuesday.
  • New York legal sized Wild Striped Bass remains in good supply.

Scallops

  • U10 & 10/20 scallop prices remain high. We expect pricing to remain high until more fishing areas open sometime in April.
