A Norge by any other name
Beyond the Fjords
When most of us think of Norway, we think of Fjords, Northern Lights, Nobel Prizes and of course Kvaroy Salmon, but there are an abundance of random things to know about Norway. For instance are you aware that Norway is home to the world's longest road tunnel? That's right! Laerdal Tunnel is 15 miles long. For any of us who have suffered a bit of agita driving through the 1.6 miles of the Lincoln or Holland tunnels, just image what it must be like to drive that but for 15 miles. Or that the country is only called Norway in English, if you are Norwegian you call it Norge or Noreg
Since this newsletter is technically about fish, a final Norge food for thought. In the 1980s Norway brought salmon to Japan. Prior to then, salmon was not used for sushi. The arrangement between the two countries continues today with delicious results.
